Unlike many women, I do not want to receive an expensive engagement ring. In my opinion, money should be spent on better things, and a ring means the same thing no matter how much it costs. Men usually give too much importance on giving an expensive engagement ring without realizing that the intended receiver may not be as concerned with how much it costs as they may think. Many women feel that it is the thought that counts, no matter how cliché that may sound. It would not be wise to spend a large amount an engagement ring when a down payment on a house might be much more sensible. A friend of mine refused an expensive engagement ring from her fiancé a few months ago. In fact, she wouldn’t take a ring from him at all. She told him that it was immensely impractical, and there was no sense in getting one.
Her fiancé didn’t have a lot of money, but he seemed willing to go into debt just to get her an expensive engagement ring. He was very relieved when he realized that he didn’t have to get one, but I think that he wouldn’t admit that to her.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with buying an expensive engagement if your loved one really wants one and you can afford it. However, you may have to tell her that she needs to aim lower if she is pointing out rings that are way out of your price range. She may not realize you can’t afford the expensive engagement ring she wants. Hopefully, she will be very agreeable about getting something that costs a little less. You should rethink the entire affair if she throws a fit. There’s a good chance that her demands won’t stop with insisting on an expensive engagement ring. You’ll be up to your ears in debt for the rest of your life if you continue this relationship. If you are interested in an expensive engagement ring, then you can purchase one from a fine jeweler in your area. You can put one on your credit card or take advantage of payment plans. However, you have to make sure that you can spare the cash without putting an irreparable dent into your finances.
Engagement rings are also available online, but it would be wise to make sure that the seller or dealer has a good reputation. There’s a good chance that you will get ripped off when you buy expensive items online.
